Burnt? Heck no, we worked hard to create a dark roast that didn't taste like old jerky. We take it right up to the edge of dark, and leave it there. It has that bold caramelized smokey flavor you want, without the campfire aftertaste. Dark roast coffee doesn't need to be well done, just done well.
